Off-Grid Systems

Overview

Off-Grid systems are ideal for remote buildings where there is no direct connection to Eskom. It allows the user to supply essential appliances with power.

These systems have no connection to mains electricity and the power generated comes purely from the solar panels. A generator can however be connected to provide power if the system does not provide sufficient power.

Any extra power generated by the solar panels will be stored in the batteries to be used at night. If the batteries are fully charged any additional power that is generated by die solar panels will be lost.

How does a Off-Grid System work?

Power generated by the solar panels is used to supply the system with electricity that will be distributed. Any additional power that is generated will be stored inside the batteries.

The batteries will provide power during the night or rainy days where the sun does not provide enough power.

There is no connection to the Eskom grid and this means you are completely independent from the grid. If the batteries get drained too much the system will shutdown and will only work again when the solar panels start generating electricity again.

Any additional power generated after the batteries are fully charged will however be lost.
